Working with a client is a unique experience. You learn about the history, goals, and vision of the company. All this is done through communication and customer service.
Creating a Sports Brand from Scratch
Client
Tennis Pro Gear is a new sports retail company that offers tennis products and clothing for all ages and skill level. Tennis Pro Gear sells products online and instore.
Problem
The Tennis Pro Gear Company wants to have a Visual Identity System to properly market their brand.
Task
I will create marketing guidelines, concept for apparel and logo for Tennis Pro Gear.
Thinking Progress
My first thought was to collaborate with the client to understand the brand Tennis Pro Gear. Together we created a questionnaire about the products, logo, target audience and typography.
Secondly, I wanted to understand the target audience
- Gen Z/ Millennials
- Athletes
- Female Dominate
Interest
- Sports (Tennis)
- Shopping
- Exercise
Third, I researched the competitors that are local and major companies that are similar to Tennis Pro Gear. Then use proper imagery and mockups that would compete with their product designs and social media.
Lastly, I sketched and illustrated my logo based on the questionnaire.
Concept
The Logo Design focus on the products that are being sold and the adjectives are :
- limitless
- brave
- modern
- dynamic
- simple/clean
The Font Choice must give a sense of action and modern feel targeting a younger demographic. The fonts are:
- Kenyan Coffee
- Vladimir Script
The Product Design shows a transparent sleeve with the wordmark logo on the side rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise.
The Social Media shows the Logo symbol on the top left corner followed by a heading under it. Lastly formatted with the paragraph and sub header on the bottom left.
Color Theory
The Green – Represents being the color of spring and rebirth.
The Blue – Represents the tennis court color and confidence.
Conclusion
To conclude Tennis Pro Gear has hired me to create a visual identification that would assist branding and marketing guidelines.
The results have increased in target audience and sales for the new brand.
